Well time flies when your having fun and I am honored than when it was time for Itzel to go to her senior prom she thought of me. Three whole years later! :)

Nailed it!: Spooky Stipes

Its no secret that I love Halloween and what better time for awesomely spooky nails! Stripes always remind me of Beetlejuice :-)

Check your local store for season nail colors in oranges, greens, and blacks. Also any local craft store or use an old eyeliner make up brush to create the stripes.

DIY:
1. Base coat
2. Two coats of Orange polish
3. Paint on your stripes, let dry
4. Repeat the stripes, let dry (you may need 3x's)
5. Top coat

Ready for Fall Hair Color!

1 More Reason to Love October!!

The month of wonderful spookyness has arrived but there is 1 more reason to love October... it is 

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 

Odds are that Cancer has touched each and every one of your lives in some way; maybe a friend, co-worker, teacher or even your own mothers and daughters have been diagnosed with Cancer. This is that special time of the year when we honor those who may have lost their battles with Cancer, their families and our Survivors. 

Susan G Komen for the Cure has become a household name in raising funds in any way possible. We see it during the month of October almost every where we turn and the beauty industry won't fall short! We are bringing the Pink, so look for it this month in all your favorite products and help do your part.

Nailed It!: Easy Nail Art

Seriously my two favorite things right now: o.p.i crackle polish (electric blue) & my purple heart ring!

I love nail polish, its just another fashion obsession that is unhealthy for my bank account ha ha.  Seems like they put it on display next to the registers on purpose knowing I'll just have to buy that new color!

I don't do acrylics because as a make up artist, they can get in the way ( and can be a little dangerous near the eyes ).  So I try to keep them nicely manicured and change my nail polish almost every week. I like them to have some texture so I might do a polk-a-dot look or maybe something animal print; maybe I'll share more nail art stories in the future.

But what if you don't feel so artistic or don't have such a steady hand or perhaps the time to do intricate nail art and you still want cool nails?

Then Crackle nail polish is for you! Several brands have come up with this amazing fun new polish that takes all the trouble of cool nail art.

How it works:

1. Do a regular base coat
2. Two coats of polish ( I used  a pearly white for the base color ) let completely dry
3. Brush on a coat of our favorite Crackle polish color & watch the magic happen!
(as the polish sets and dries it will crack giving you a great texture look)
4. Top coat

Done. Easy!

It is always my pleasure to take that first adventure into hair color with a client! Exploring something new and exciting ! The possibilities are pretty much limitless... if i can find a way to put it in foils than we can make it happen!  

Angelica regularly gets a stacked A-Line Bob but this time she wanted to do something a little different and go RED. She was a nervous and a bit anxious about how she might look as a red head, I told her that I believe anyone can have red hair its all about choosing something that will compliment your eyes, skin and haircut.

I think she rocked this beautiful deep red shade!

Honestly, its a labor of love what I do and today proved it. Carrying a duffel bag of clothes, cosmetic cases and photography equipment up Mt. Rubidoux in Riverside is only for the hardcore artists such as ourselves! Everything for the vision!

Kristen is not a model; but wouldn't know it by looking at these shots! Kristen is a beautiful girl; she had such a shy genuineness about her that really transcended onto camera. Thank you Kristen for shooting with us it was a pleasure to work with you!

There's no I in Team... Assisting!

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of assisting my good friend and celebrity make up artist Bulmaro of BulsEye Makep. Bulmaro is a wonderfully genuine person who always gives of himself without question which is why he has been an industry leader for over 20 years and his reputation speaks for itself; and if you can afford his talent you can be sure it will be well worth every penny!  Which is why I was so delighted that he thought of me when putting together his team for a wedding event. It was an awesome day and a tremendous learning experience for which I am truly grateful!

Shoot Em' Up: Nicole

I was really so happy with the way this shoot turned out! I hope you enjoy this one, I did!

I was inspired by the Jeremy Scott's NY Fashion Week look.

This is some dangerous liner! (gals don't try this in public, or do! lol)

I was going for a futuristic look for this shoot so I wanted the hair to have a lot of texture. I did 3 twisted cornrows on each side, 3 ponytails that were teased and pinned under to make "geisha-like" buns to create height and the entire bang and crown area was teased, laid over the buns leaving the pointed ends loose. Oh and I think I threw in a pinned victory roll on the right side (pictured below)

MAC NY Fashion Week Face Chart & Shoot

Apparently I'm on a good one tonight... its 2:30am and I cant quit posting stuff up ha! Its that make up high I tell you!

As a working artist one must always look for inspiration and what better way then from the pros? I am constantly looking to MAC pro daily trends for the inside track on what will be in on the runways and fashion in general. I was really inspired by Val Garlands Jeremy Scott in NY look. This is my take on it: some extreme liner and I thought I'd pair it up with some Glam-xurious (I'm making up words too lol) pink glittery lips. My shoot is tomorrow... or later today rather. So look for these pics later in the week!

Face Chart sneak peak!

Peacocked Shoot

So I've been wanting to do a peacock inspired look for some time now and last week my mom (she is an amazing flower arrangement artist) gave me some peacock feathers that she had left over in her shop. I was so excited there were so many ideas I had floating around in my head that I didn't even know where to start! So a couple of days ago I finally sat down to do a face chart it was a very rough draft but at least I got some direction going...



I had the shoot today and WOW it came out 100 x's better than what I had sketch up! These pictures are in editing right now but I should have something to post up in the next 2 days or so, so you can check out how this really came to life!

Hello New Hair!

Instructions for DYI:

You'll Need:
1. BW Clairol Bleach (you can get this at Sally's)
3. Manic Panic in Vampire Red (or any color in the rainbow of your choosing)
4. Bottle of Black dye I used Loreal Professional in Soft Polished Black
5. Hair dye bowl & brush
6. Hair clips
7. Petroleum Jelly or Vaseline
8. Foil (if you know how to use it)

Instructions:

1. Section off your hair to leave out only what you will want RED (or the color you have chosen). Put the rest of your hair back, in clips or a ponytail to keep it from touching.
1a. Mix your bleach ( I recommend using at 30 volume developer)
1b. Use gloves! (bleach burns!)

2. Using a dying brush "paint" your hair with the bleach in 1/4 inch sections or so. Make sure to distribute the bleach evenly.
2a. Clip up your hair and wait for it to get light
*How light you want it to get is up to you, the lighter blonde the brighter the accent color will be. Really you only need it a brassy orange for reds.

*Tip: You can use the blow dryer to speed up the lightening.

3. Wash out the bleach using shampoo ( you must shampoo!!) and conditioner.
4. Blow dry your hair slightly, you will want it damp to add your accent color
*spread petroleum jelly around your hairline on your skin so you don't dye your skin.
5. Pour the desired amount of your Manic Panic color in a dye bowl. Using the same technique as with the bleach distribute the color evenly. Make sure to use enough, these dyes are more like stains so its good to really saturate the hair.
5a. How long you leave it in is up to you, the longer the better ( I usually wait about 2 hours )

*Tip: Put on a shampoo cap and go about your business until your ready to rinse it out.


Hairline bleaching is a little easier since you can pull the rest of your hair away, any peek-a-boo highlights should be done by a professional because its likely putting them in incorrectly will cause bleeding and you will have spots! Luckily you happen to know a professional... ;)

Yay! My favorite (and busiest) season of the year has arrived!! I always love spring it brings beautiful weather, lovely flowers and grand celebrations. I can't wait for a packed schedule of weddings and tons of brides to meet!
